Usually, removing DirectX installed on the system may be required by avid gamers. Another reason for uninstalling the program may be the need to install a new version of the product. The standard Microsoft Windows tools do not provide for such an option, so you will have to turn to third-party developers.

Instructions
Step 1
Download the free DirectX Uninstaller to completely remove any version of DirectX (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 supported).
Step 2
Install the application and wait for a window to appear prompting you to press the Setup button. This will allow the program to install all the required components.
Step 3
Wait for the installation to complete (it may take some time).
Step 4
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "All Programs" item.
Step 5
Select DirecX Uninstaller and select Shortcut to inf file to open the program folder.
Step 6
Locate the dxdiag.exe file and run it to view the current version of DirectX and confirm its installation.
Step 7
Create a system restore point using standard Windows tools.
Step 8
Restart your system while holding down the F8 function key to boot Windows into Safe Mode.
Step 9
Select "Safe Mode" in the boot list window that opens.
Step 10
Return to the main Start menu and go to All Programs.

Select DirectX Uninstaller and select Shortcut to inf file to open the program folder.

Find the DxUnVer13.inf file and call the service menu by right-clicking on the field of the found file.

Select "Install (Run)" in the context menu to start the DirectX uninstall operation.

Wait for the uninstallation to complete and exit all programs.

Restart your computer normally.

Return to the main Start menu and go to All Programs.

Select DirectX Uninstaller and select Shortcut to inf file.

Run the DirectX test file dxdiag.exe and make sure DirectX is removed.
