Flash Video (FLV) is becoming an increasingly popular and widespread multimedia format on the Internet. It is used by corporations such as YouTube, Google Video, and MySpace. You can run these files on your computer using special codecs for the FFDShow application.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the FFDShow application on the Internet, which contains the set of video codecs necessary for viewing FLV.
Next, install FFDShow on your operating system. Run the installer. Select your language and click Next. Now you must accept the terms of the FFDShow license agreement, for which select the item "I accept the terms of the agreement" and press the button "Next". Now you can choose the directory to install the application. The next screen is the most important, since here you will have to specify the required set of components for installation. Make sure to select it under VfW Interface and then click Next.
Step 2
Select the FFDShow folder from the Start menu, click on it and open the Advanced Settings file. Scroll down the screen and pay attention to the field "Associate the following video formats with FFDShow". Here you need to select options FLV1 and VP5 / VP6. In the field "Associate the following audio formats with FFDShow" select MP3 (this function is usually already enabled by default). Clicking the Next button will take you to the Troubleshoot Compatibility Issues screen.
Step 3
Set to use FFDShow only with programs such as Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player. Click "Next" and similar settings for audio will open. Specify the desired speaker settings (if you only have 2 speakers, select the stereo output). Now click "Install".
Step 4
Open the file "FFDShow Video Decoder Settings", make sure that all the necessary settings for the codecs are selected on the left. You will see a list of video formats and the software required to decrypt them. There is also FLV1 here. Click on the cell next to it and you will be given the option to select the appropriate codec.
Step 5
FLV files will now be automatically played by Windows Media Player. If not, go back to the previous steps and make the codec settings again.
