Step 1
Devices from different manufacturers differ from each other not only in external design. Therefore, the first thing to do before changing the keyboard in a laptop is to read the dismantling procedure in the computer repair and operation manual. If you have not preserved it, or, for example, you bought a laptop hand-held, then download it from the manufacturer's website. Even if your laptop model is outdated, it is easy to find manuals for any computer on the Internet.
Step 2
After reading the manual, you will learn how to disassemble and install parts. Find a special cross or sprocket screwdriver of the correct size. Sometimes, despite the fact that changing the keyboard in a laptop is required quite often, for this you have to dismantle many parts of the case. Turn off the laptop and remove the battery before proceeding.
Step 3
Proceed to dismantle the devices. The specific list of parts that you need to remove in order to change the keyboard in a laptop depends on the computer model. For an HP laptop, remove the small protective cover from the bottom of the computer and unscrew the screws that secure the keyboard.
Step 4
Open the laptop to its maximum width. Hook the keyboard on the side closest to the monitor and pull it out of the mounting slots in a sequential up and forward motion. After that, you will see the connector going from it to the computer. After disconnecting the connector, you can change the keyboard in the laptop by following the described procedure in reverse order.
