Distributing the Internet using a laptop or netbook in the absence of a router is a very convenient opportunity if this procedure is performed occasionally and there is no need to purchase special equipment.
Netbook features
In order to be able to distribute the Internet from your netbook, a Wi-Fi module must be installed on it. In fact, this module is a conventional radio transmitter. Another condition for the possibility of transmitting the Internet signal is that the network card of your netbook supports Virtual Wi-Fi technology. Further, if the Windows Starter operating system is installed on the netbook, then the transfer will also fail, because this operating system does not contain Virtual Wi-Fi technology.
Creating an internal Wi-Fi network
So, in order to organize an internal network using your netbook as a transmitter, you need to type the following in the command line:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = key = keyUsage = persistent
After pressing the Enter key, the computer will create a new device, which can be seen in Device Manager. The new device will be named Microsoft Virtual WiFi Mini Port Adapter. If this device does not appear in the list of all devices, you can try to update the network card drivers and repeat the procedure in the command line from the beginning. If everything went well, then you can continue. A new wireless network connection should appear in the list of network connections. It must be enabled in the context menu that appears when you right-click on this wireless connection. This operation will need to be done every time after restarting the netbook. Therefore, it makes sense to create a shortcut for this connection.
Teaming network connections
At this point, your netbook is able to connect to other devices via Wi-Fi, which can be tested on any other device. However, these devices do not have access to the internet on your netbook. In order to fix this, you need to share your internet connection with the new wireless connection. To do this, you need to open the properties of the main network connection, go to the "Access" tab and check the box next to the item "Allow other network users to use the Internet connection of this computer." This completes the setup. From now on, your netbook will act as a transmitter.
Note
This connection method is not suitable if you need to connect to the Internet through your netbook using an Android mobile phone using a standard application. This is because Virtual Wi-Fi technology implies AES encryption, not TKIP, which is used in Android OS. The way out of this problem is to use a special application for the Android OS.
