Step 1
Determine, in approximately percentage terms, the magnification required for the photograph. If it is colored, it is not recommended to increase its size by more than 10-15 percent. It cannot be said unequivocally, since each image is an individual case. Here you need to consider not only the original size, but also the format and quality of the file. For example, sharp black and white jpeg is quite realistic to increase even by 50%, but a color image, which contains few pixels per inch, is hardly worth increasing at all. Also, an important factor is the content of the picture. If it is characterized by the presence of small details, then multiple magnification is not recommended.
Step 2
Edit the image before resizing it. Remove all existing defects using the special tools in the panel on the left, because after enlarging the image, their effect on the image will be very noticeable. For convenience, zoom in on the image using the navigator in the "Windows" menu. When you have achieved the desired result, make a copy of this file, saving it.
Step 3
Resize the image by selecting the appropriate item in the edit menu and selecting the desired magnification. It is best to use a bicubic smooth proportion in this case. Set the image quality to 150 or higher if it is intended for photo printing.
Step 4
Review the result, if necessary, paint the lines in those places where they are missing. Focus in such a way that the image quality is not conspicuous. Experiment with the brightness-contrast parameters, here you can find an approach for each image if you wish. If you have to edit the image in this way, initially enlarge it 2% more than necessary, edit it and then shrink it.
