Today there are quite a few popular varieties of the Linux OS family. Recently, developers have attached great importance to creating a user-friendly user interface in Linux - a graphical desktop environment (KDE). The KDE shell allows anyone to work on a system without knowing the specifics of the system's architecture. Working in KDE, you can easily install programs on Linux using the implemented interactive program management tools.

Instructions

Step 1

Start the program control mode on the system. To do this, open the main menu of the graphical shell of your Linux OS. Its location is similar to the location of the familiar "Start" button in the Windows environment. Select "Add or Remove Programs" from the menu.

Step 2

A window asking for an administrator password will appear on the screen. Any system actions in Linux are carried out upon confirmation of root rights - the main user in the OS. Enter the password for root in the window. Then click on the "Ok" button.

Step 3

The system will launch an application that manages the installation and removal of programs in Linux. In the program window, in the left drop-down list, select the category that characterizes the program to be installed. Below will be a list containing a package of programs of this category that can be installed or are already installed in Linux.

Step 4

To filter out unnecessary information, select the "Not installed" option in the right drop-down list of the window. In this case, only components that are not installed will be available for viewing in the window.

Step 5

Select with the mouse in the left list the line of programs with the required application available for installation. All programs required for the application to work will be displayed in the package list on the right half of the window. Check the boxes next to each program that you want to install on this system.

Step 6

When you check the boxes, the OS will ask for permission to install all related components and dependent programs for the selected application. If these components are not also added, adequate system operation will not be possible. Confirm the installation of additional packages by clicking the "OK" button in the request window.

Step 7

After selecting the program to install, click the "Apply" button in the control window. The system will make the necessary settings and install the new program in Linux.
