Changing or removing password protection of a workbook file, sheet, access to a selected range is one of the most used functions of Excel, included in the Microsoft Office suite. The solution to this problem does not require the involvement of additional software and is provided by standard application tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the main Windows system menu by clicking the "Start" button and open the "All Programs" link to perform the procedure for removing password protection for the selected workbook, sheet, or access to the Excel application range. Expand Microsoft Office and start Excel. Open the document to be canceled by password protection and open the "File" menu in the upper service panel of the program window.
Step 2
Select the "Save As" item and expand the "Tools" menu. Specify the item "General parameters" and double-click on the asterisks in the line "Password to open". Use the Del softkey to select the desired action and confirm your selection with the OK button. Authorize the cancellation of password protection for the selected book by clicking the "Save" button and apply the saved changes by clicking the "Yes" button in the system request window that opens.
Step 3
Find the Excel sheet to be removed from the password protection and open the "Tools" menu of the upper service panel. Specify the "Protection" line and use the "Unprotect sheet" command. Authorize the execution of the necessary actions by entering your password in the appropriate field of the system request.
Step 4
Use the above-described algorithm of actions to unprotect access to the selected range and specify the "Allow changing ranges" subcommand in the "Protection" section of the "Tools" menu. Specify the range to be unprotected in the Password-unlocked Ranges of the Protected Sheet catalog and authorize the applied changes by clicking the Delete button.
Step 5
Expand the "Tools" menu of the upper service panel of the Excel window to unprotect the selected workbook and select the "Protection" item. Use the "Unprotect a book" command and authorize the action by entering the password in the appropriate field of the system request. Note that removing password protection for an Excel workbook automatically deletes its changelog and removes it from the General category. Protecting a workbook without a password retains its "General" status.
