The German company Avira produces several software products that combine antivirus and firewall in various combinations. Its line includes both free and paid versions, the license for which must be renewed periodically by installing new certification keys. This operation can be done in several ways, and it takes no more than a couple of minutes.
Instructions
Step 1
You can use the standard operating system procedure for opening files to renew your license. To do this, first locate the resulting file containing the new license information on your computer. It is always called the same - hbedv.key, and you can find it with any file manager installed on your computer. If you are using any version of Windows, you can open its standard file manager by pressing the Win and E keys. Avira most often sends licenses by e-mail. It is better to save the file obtained in this way in the same folder where the antivirus itself is installed - it is easier to search for it if it becomes necessary to reinstall the license, when reinstalling it on another computer and other unforeseen cases.
Step 2
Click the found hbedv.key twice with the left mouse button and the operating system will start searching for the application, which is associated with the key extension in its settings. If you have previously renewed your license using this method, the Avira Key Manager will be launched automatically and will do everything you need to do without your intervention. Otherwise, you will have to find the antivirus executable file in the dialog box shown by the operating system and check the checkbox next to the inscription "Use the selected program for all files of this type." After clicking OK, the corresponding antivirus component will update the license.
Step 3
Another way is to use the interface of the program itself - open it by double-clicking on the Avira icon in the notification area of the taskbar (next to the clock). In the application menu, expand the "Help" section and select the "License Manager" line. In the manager window (above the Proxy Settings button) find the line “I already have a valid hbedv.key license file”. The name of the file in this line is clickable - click it, and a dialog will open in which you need to find this very file on your computer. Do this, click the "Open" button and the license will be renewed.
