After the components are installed in the computer, they need to be configured. Installing drivers, setting up accompanying software - sometimes these operations are simple and performed literally "with one touch", and sometimes they turn into a real headache. In this case, the process can take hours and requires the study of a mountain of additional materials. Fortunately, such situations practically do not arise when setting up sound cards.
Necessary
Computer, sound card, driver installation disc, initial computer skills
Instructions
Step 1
The first thing to do when setting up a sound card is to install its driver, a special program that "docks" the device with the Windows operating system. The driver installation program can be found on the disk that comes with the sound card (if it is built-in, the disk to the motherboard acts as such), or downloaded from the device manufacturer's website. Run the installer. If you are installing from a disc, it should start automatically as soon as the disc is inserted into the drive.
Step 2
The installation itself takes several minutes, you will only have to click the "Next" button a few times. After the installation is complete, a message will appear stating this, and you may need to restart your computer.
Step 3
After rebooting, a sound control icon appears in the taskbar in the lower right corner of the screen, which looks like a miniature speaker. Double click on it with the left mouse button. In the window that appears, set the required volume level for the devices, and, if necessary, uncheck the “Disable” checkbox in the microphone control field so that you can use it.
