To display the location of a file in the program window, there is a separate field, which is called the address bar or the address bar. Most often, this is the "active" element of the application window, that is, through it you can control the operation of the program by entering the address of the file that you want to load into this window. You can enable, disable, and customize the display of the address bar in most applications.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are not using Windows 7, you can enable or disable the display of the address bar in Explorer, which acts as a file manager in the Windows operating system. To do this, first launch it. This can be done in almost a dozen ways, the simplest of which is to simultaneously press the win and e keys.
Step 2
Right-click at the top of the window (to the right of the menu bars) and Explorer will display a four-item context menu. Check or, conversely, uncheck the box in front of the "Address bar" to show or hide this element.
Step 3
Expand the "View" section in the file manager menu, and then the "Toolbars" subsection, if you want to do the same as in the previous step, but in a different way. The subsection "Toolbars" contains a similar item with the name "Address bar", which must be checked in order for this panel to be displayed in the Explorer window.
Step 4
Drag the “Address” inscription to the line below with the mouse, if after turning on the display of the address bar nothing but this inscription appears in the right place. After dragging in this way, there should be enough space to display the address bar itself. The move operation is available to the user only if in the "View" section of the "Toolbars" section of the Explorer menu there is no check mark in the "Dock toolbars" field.
Step 5
The functions described in the last three steps are not available in the Windows 7 version, but it does provide the ability to place the address bar on the taskbar. To do this, open the context menu by right-clicking the taskbar, go to its Panels section and select the Address line.
Step 6
If you need to enable or disable the display of the address bar in the browser, then, for example, in Opera, open the menu and go to its section "Toolbars". There, find the line "Address Panel" and check or uncheck the box next to it. In the latest versions of Internet Explorer, the address bar is not disabled, but in earlier versions it can be done in the same way as in Windows Explorer - using the "Address bar" item in the "View" section of the browser menu.
