The operation of adding a word to the dictionary of the Word application included in the Microsoft Office package can be conditionally broken down into two different steps: adding the selected word to the main dictionary and adding the selected word to the auxiliary dictionary. Both operations can be performed using standard tools of the program.

Instructions

Step 1

Start Microsoft Word and select Word Options from the top toolbar of the application window.

Step 2

Specify Spelling and click the AutoCorrect Options button to use the main spelling checker for AutoCorrect.

Step 3

Apply a check mark to the Automatically Correct Spelling Errors box on the AutoCorrect tab.

Step 4

Click the Exceptions button and go to the Other tab to create an exception for a word that is not in the main dictionary, but resembles a word in it.

Step 5

Enter the selected word in the Replace field and click the Add button to execute the command to create an exception.

Step 6

Click OK to apply the selected changes and return to the AutoCorrect tab to create a new undo rule for the selected word.

Step 7

Check the box next to "Automatically add words to lists" and click OK.

Step 8

Go to the Tools menu in the top toolbar of the Word window and select Options.

Go to the "Spelling" tab of the dialog box that opens and click the "Dictionaries" button.

Step 10

Click the "Create" button and enter the desired name for the created dictionary to perform the operation of creating an auxiliary user dictionary.

Click the "Save" button to execute the command and confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking the OK button in the "Auxiliary Dictionaries" and "Parameters" windows.

Click the Add to Dictionary button during spellchecking to add the selected word to the created auxiliary custom dictionary.

Return to the Spelling tab and click the Dictionaries button to remove the selected word from the auxiliary dictionary.

Specify the name of the dictionary you created earlier and click the "Change" button.

Step 15

Select the desired word in the list of those entered earlier and click the "Delete" button.

Click OK to confirm the application of the selected changes.
