The operation of checking the status of hard disks can be performed using standard tools of the Microsoft Windows operating system using a graphical interface or using a command line tool.

Instructions
Step 1
Press the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "My Computer" item to initiate the check and diagnostics of the selected hard disk.
Step 2
Call the context menu of the volume to be scanned by right-clicking and selecting the "Properties" command.
Step 3
Go to the "Service" tab of the properties dialog box that opens and click the "Check" button.
Step 4
Apply the checkboxes for "Automatically fix system errors" and "Check and repair bad sectors" and click the "Run" button to confirm the immediate execution of the command.
Step 5
Use the Schedule Disk Check button in the new dialog box when diagnosing the system disk to perform a check immediately after reboot and before Windows starts.
Step 6
Return to the main menu "Start" and enter the value "command line" in the search bar field to perform diagnostics of the selected hard disk using the "Command Prompt" tool.
Step 7
Press the function key Enter to confirm the search and open the context menu of the found object by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 8
Specify Run as Administrator to comply with Microsoft security policies and enter the following value in the command prompt text box: chkdsk drive_name: / f / r
Step 9
Press the Enter function key to confirm the command, or press the Y key to restart the computer when checking the system disk.
