The sound card is designed to output sounds played by the computer through external audio devices (speakers, headphones, headsets), as well as to input sound into the computer through a microphone. For years, manufacturers have been making motherboards with built-in sound cards.
But often the number of connectors in them is limited to three, and it is possible to connect only a two-channel speaker system and a microphone to them. And the quality of the built-in "sound" is, as a rule, lower. Sometimes after installing an external sound card for the hardware to work properly, you need to disable the built-in sound processor.
Instructions
Step 1
After turning on the power button of the computer, at the beginning of the boot press the Delete key on the keyboard in order to enter the BIOS.
Step 2
Find the section of the menu that is responsible for the built-in devices of the motherboard. Depending on the manufacturer of the motherboard, the section you are looking for may have different names: Advanced Features, Chipset, Onboard devices, or Integrated Peripherals.
Step 3
Go to this section and find the item responsible for the built-in sound processor. It can be: Sound Card, AC97, Audio, Onboard Audio Function, etc. Highlight this item and press the Enter key. Set the parameter to Disable.
Step 4
Save changes and exit BIOS (Exit and Save settings menu item).
