Data Execution Prevention (DEP), more commonly known as Data Execution Prevention, is a useful security component of your computer that monitors the use of system memory. However, in some cases it is necessary to disable DEP.
Instructions
Step 1
Log on to the system using the computer administrator account and open the OS Windows main menu by clicking the "Start" button to perform the operation of changing the DEP function parameters.
Step 2
Go to the "Control Panel" item and expand the "System" link.
Step 3
Select the Advanced tab of the System Properties dialog box that opens and go to Performance.
Step 4
Expand the Options link and click the Data Execution Prevention tab of the new Performance Options dialog box.
Step 5
Confirm the administrator privileges in the request window that opens by entering the password in the appropriate field and apply the checkbox next to "Enable DEP for all programs and services except those selected below" to disable the service for a specific application.
Step 6
Apply the checkbox to the field of the required application or click the Add button if the selected application is not in the catalog.
Step 7
Specify the required program in the "Open" dialog box and click the button with the same name to confirm the execution of the command.
Step 8
Click OK to confirm your choice and restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
Step 9
Return to the main Start menu and enter cmd in the search bar to perform a complete shutdown, Data Execution Prevention.
Step 10
Call the context menu of the found "Command Line" object and select the "Run as administrator" item.
Step 11
Confirm your credentials by entering a password in the appropriate prompt box and specify bcdedit.exe / set {current} nx Always Off in the command line tool text box.
Step 12
Confirm the execution of the command by pressing the Enter function key and wait for the system message “Operation completed successfully” to appear.
Step 13
Close all open applications and restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
