In modern operating systems of the Windows family, logical hard disk partitions can be combined to create a common file storage space. You can also format unallocated areas and create partitions outside the logical drive used by the system.
Instructions
Step 1
To access the program that is responsible for editing hard disk partitions, click "Start" and select the "Computer" section by right-clicking on it. In the context menu that appears, select the "Control" line and wait for a new window to appear.
Step 2
In the list of suggested sections on the left side of the window, select "Disk Management". You will see a list of logical partitions created in the system. To manage them, use the commands presented in the toolbar section of the window or through the call of the context menu. Select the volume you want to merge with another partition using the right mouse button.
Step 3
In the context menu that appears, click Delete Volume. Before performing the operation, it is advisable to save all the data stored on the disk on another area of the disk, which you will not change, or on a separate removable media.
Step 4
Delete the partition in the same way. To do this, right-click on the remote volume and select "Delete Partition".
Step 5
Right-click on the drive to which you want to add the logical media you just removed and select the "Expand volume" option.
Step 6
You will see the Volume Expansion Wizard window. Click Next and select the logical drive you want to mount and the amount of free space you want to add. This operation is performed using the "Add" or "Remove" option in the central part of the wizard window.
Step 7
Confirm the parameters you specified by clicking on the "Finish" button. As a result of the actions performed, you will receive an enlarged disk, which can be viewed through the "Start" - "Computer" menu, where all sections and storage media connected to the computer are presented. Expansion operation completed. You can start using the created volume or continue working in the partitioning program.
