To delete unnecessary files and folders in the Windows operating system, there is a "Recycle Bin" object. This object is provided for each partition or hard disk, and for each disk you can set your own limit for the size of the recycle bin. Removing files from the trash can be controlled using specific commands.

Step 1
Moving files and folders to the trash before permanently deleting them from the computer is sometimes quite useful, because the user can mistakenly delete the object he needs. Files placed in the trash can remain in it until the user permanently deletes them. Objects in the recycle bin, like all other files, take up disk space, which can negatively affect system performance, so you need to empty the recycle bin from time to time.
Step 2
You can use different methods to empty the trash. While on your desktop, right-click on the "Trash" icon. Select the "Empty Trash" command in the context menu, answer yes to the system request to confirm deletion of files - all files in the trash will be deleted from your computer.
Step 3
Another option: open the basket by clicking on its icon with the left mouse button, or right-click and select the "Open" command in the drop-down menu. Select the "Empty Trash" command on the left side of the window (on the typical taskbar) and confirm your action. The files will be deleted.
Step 4
You can also delete objects from the basket using the Delete key on your keyboard. Open the trash can, select all files with the mouse or by pressing Ctrl and A, press the Delete key and confirm this command. Files can be deleted one at a time. To do this, place the mouse cursor on the file icon, right-click and select the "Delete" command from the context menu.
Step 5
In Windows, you can use Disk Cleanup to delete files from the Recycle Bin. In the "Start" menu, expand all programs, select the "Standard" folder and click in the "System" subfolder on the "Disk Cleanup" item. In the "Select disk" window that opens, select the required disk using the drop-down list and click the OK button.
Step 6
Wait while the system collects information. In the new "Disk Cleanup" window, set a marker in the field opposite the "Recycle Bin" item and click the OK button. Confirm your actions and wait for the end of the operation. The trash will be emptied. The Disk Cleanup window will close automatically.
