It may be necessary to remove anti-virus databases in Kaspersky Lab products if an update attempt is unsuccessful. The signal for carrying out this procedure is the appearance of a message about damaged databases.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item. Launch the Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 application and go to the Updates tab in the main application window. Find the "Roll back to previous databases" link in the lower left pane of the dialog box that opens and click it.
Step 2
Make sure that the Internet connection is working properly and that the anti-virus databases in the local folder are correct and click the "Update databases" button. In the overwhelming majority of cases, this will lead to the disappearance of the message about database corruption (for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009).
Step 3
Launch the Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 application and go to the Updates tab in the main application window. Use the similar rollback button to the previous databases in the lower part of the dialog box that opens and click the Update button located immediately below it (for Kaspersky Internet Security 2010).
Step 4
Return to the main "Start" menu if it is impossible to delete the damaged databases of a Kaspersky Lab product and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the Add or Remove Programs node and find the line with the installed version of the application. Use the "Delete" command. Reinstall the anti-virus program and update the databases as usual.
Step 5
Download a special utility for removing Kaspersky Lab products from the official website and unpack the downloaded archive to any convenient location. Run the executable file kavremover.exe and specify the databases to be removed in the directory of the "The following products detected" window that opens. Press the "Delete" button and wait for the message about the successful completion of the selected task. Click OK and reboot the system to apply the changes.
