Execution of the operation of opening a file for editing is directly related to the type of the selected file and the parameters of its display in the system. In this case, we describe how to open and modify the Boot.ini file using the Windows Startup and Recovery tool.

Instructions
Step 1
Call the context menu of the "My Computer" item on the desktop by right-clicking and go to the "Properties" item to perform the operation of creating a backup copy of the Boot.ini file in accordance with the security requirements of WIndows Corporation.
Step 2
Click the Advanced tab in the dialog box that opens and click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section.
Step 3
Click the Edit button in the Operating System Boot node to open the selected file in the Notepad text editor.
Step 4
Specify the "Save As" command in the "File" menu of the upper toolbar of the "Notepad" application window and call the context menu of the selected item by right-clicking on an empty space in the new dialog box.

Use the "New" item and select the "Folder" command.
Step 6
Use the "New" item and select the "Folder" command.

Double click on the created folder and use the "Save" button to confirm the execution of the command to save the backup copy of the Boot.ini file.

Return to the main menu "Start" and go to the item "Run" to perform the operation of editing the Boot.ini file.

Enter sysdm.cpi in the Open field and click OK to confirm the command.

Click the Advanced tab of the dialog box that opens and click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section.

Select the Edit command in the Operating System Boot section and make the necessary changes.

Go back to Run in the main Start menu and enter cmd in the Open field to launch the Command Prompt tool.
