Just starting to master 3D modeling, the user is faced with various problems. In particular, the question may arise about how to open the texture of an object in Adobe Photoshop.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually, difficulties arise in those situations when the image is represented by a file in dds-format, which is most often used for textures. Initially, Adobe Photoshop does not support this format, so you need to download from the Internet and install the NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop plug-in on your computer.
Step 2
Launch a web browser and open the official website of the software developer at https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop. Select the version of the plugin for your system (32 or 64 bit) by left-clicking on the corresponding link-line. A new dialog box will open. Mark the command "Save" in it with a marker and specify the directory for saving the file. Wait for the download to complete.
Step 3
Open the folder where you just saved the file and run it. The plugin installation process is automated. Following the instructions of the "Installation Wizard", install the application on your computer. After the installation is complete, launch the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop. Now you should be able to open the texture you want.
Step 4
After selecting the dds file, a query window will appear in the editor with options for the actions available to you. You can open the file as it was saved, convert it to 8-, 16- and 32-bit images, load all maps, or rotate the texture vertically.
Step 5
If you want to edit the texture like any other image, set a marker in the query window opposite the Load Using Default Sizes field. Do not remove the marker from the Show this dialog box in the lower left part of the window, otherwise next time you will not be able to choose a way to open the file, and the last option you marked will be used by default. Having decided, click on the OK button in the request window.
