The eyes are the windows to the soul. It is very important to emphasize their expressiveness in any composition. But in photographs, they may be unnecessarily darkened. You can brighten your eyes in Photoshop, a powerful raster graphics editor.
Necessary

Instructions
Step 1
Open the digital image in Adobe Photoshop that contains the eyes you want to lighten. To do this, simply drag the desired file from the Explorer window, folder or any file manager into the Photoshop window. Either open the Open dialog by clicking on the corresponding File menu item or pressing Ctrl + O, go to the directory with the file, select it in the listing and click the "Open" button.
Step 2
Create a preset selection area around the eye areas that you want to lighten. For example, if only the iris is to be corrected, activate the Elliptical Marquee Tool. Create a selection of the desired size and shape for them. If the pupil is not supposed to participate in the lighting, exclude it from the selection by applying the Elliptical Marquee Tool while holding down the Alt key.
Step 3
Adjust the selection area that was created in the previous step. Select Select and Transform Selection from the menu. Resize the area. Activate the quick mask mode (use the button on the toolbar or press the Q key). Select the Brush tool and set the brush options that are comfortable to work with. Expand the selection using white. Delete unnecessary fragments in black. Exit quick mask mode.
Step 4
Brighten your eyes. Select Image from the main menu. Highlight its Adjustments section, click on "Brightness / Contrast …". In the dialog that appears, check the Preview box. Move the Brightness and Contrast sliders or enter values in the corresponding fields to achieve the desired degree of lightening. Click OK.
Step 5
Save the processing result. Press Shift + Ctrl + S. Specify the file name, format and directory in the dialog that appears. Click "Save". If you expect that the image will someday be finalized, additionally create a copy in Adobe Photoshop format.
