To create unusual voiceovers, voice recordings are often used, modified using the filters of the audio editor. So, for example, the voice of Masyani, a character in a popular animated series, was made by changing the key of the original recording. This voice conversion can be done in Adobe Audition.

Necessary

  • - Adobe Audition program;
  • - file with voice recording.

Instructions

Step 1

Load the voice recording into the audio editor by opening the dialog with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O. If the sound in the recording turned out to be quiet, apply the Normalize filter from the Amplitude group of the Effects menu to it to increase the volume.

Step 2

Remove background noise from the recording before changing your voice. This can be done using the filters collected in the Restoration group of the Effects menu. To eliminate constant high-frequency noise, Hiss Reduction is usually used, and in order to remove the noise of the specified profile from the recording, the Noise Reduction filter is suitable. Before starting to work with this filter, select a fragment of a recording that contains only noise and press Alt + N.

Step 3

To transform the voice by changing the pitch, you need filters from the Time / Pitch group. If you need to additionally simulate the movement of the sound source in a circle or from left to right, use the Doppler Shifter filter. In the settings window for this effect, you can specify the initial and final position of the sound source, its path and speed of movement. In order to evaluate the effect of Doppler Shifter, select one of the saved presets and listen to the result of applying the effect to the recording by clicking on the Preview button.

Step 4

The Pitch Bender filter allows you to change the tone of the voice in different ways in certain areas of the recording. To change the sound using this filter, click on the beginning and end of the fragment that you are going to change, and drag the anchor points that appear to the desired height.

Step 5

The Stretch filter allows you to combine changing the key with changing the recording speed. By selecting the Time Stretch option, you can speed up or slow down your voice without changing its key. Pitch Shift allows you to change the key while maintaining the tempo of speech, which is necessary when creating voiceovers. The Resample option allows you to combine speed and key changes.

Step 6

For additional decoration of the modified recording, you can use filters from the Delay Effects group, which create the effect of a voice sounding in a room with different characteristics - from a pool to a wooden box. In addition, using the filters of this group, you can turn one voice into a duet or chorus.

Step 7

To save the edited entry, use the Save As option from the File menu. In order not to lose the original file, save the modified sound under a name that differs from the name of the original file.
