Restrictions on the launch of programs can be the result of some malicious programs that make changes to the system registry entries. Therefore, correcting this situation will also require editing the values of the keys of some parameters.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main OS Windows system menu by clicking the "Start" button to implement the procedure for creating restrictions on the launch of programs and go to the "Run" dialog. Enter the value regedit in the "Open" line and authorize the launch of the "Registry Editor" tool by clicking the OK button.
Step 2
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer branch and create a new Dword string parameter. Name the generated key RestrictRun and the value 1.
Step 3
Reboot the computer system to apply the changes made and repeat the entire procedure described above to create a new key with the same name? creating in it a directory of applications to be prohibited from launching. Select the type of parameters to be created, String, and assign numbers to them, starting with one. Specify the full path to the executable files to be prohibited from running programs: - 1 Reg_sz cmd.exe; - 2 Reg_sz Iexplore.exe, etc.
Step 4
Restart the computer system to apply the selected actions and return to the Registry Editor utility to undo the created application launch inhibit. Change the value of the generated RestrictRun key from 1 to 0, or simply remove this parameter. Remember to restart your computer.
Step 5
One of the most common results of a virus attack is the prohibition on launching the Registry Editor tool itself. Restore the utility to work. To do this, reboot the computer again and use the F8 function key to enter BIOS safe mode. Select the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" option and enter the value regedit in the command interpreter text box.
Step 6
Confirm your selection by pressing the Enter function key and expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer branch, delete the RestrictRun key and reboot the system.
