Accidentally deleting the recycle bin on the desktop of a computer can create a lot of difficulties for the user. Fortunately, Recycle Bin recovery is feasible with standard Windows operating system tools and does not require additional third-party software.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the item "Control Panel" (for Windows Vista).
Step 2
Expand the Appearance and Personalization link and select Personalization (for Windows Vista).
Step 3
Select "Change Desktop Icons" and apply the checkbox to the "Recycle Bin" (for Windows Vista).
Step 4
Click OK to apply the selected changes (for Windows Vista).
Step 5
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to "Run" to launch the command line tool (for Windows XP).
Step 6
Enter regedit in the Open field and click OK to launch the Registry Editor utility (for Windows XP).
Step 7
Expand the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Desktop / NameSpace
and call the context menu of the NameSpace parameter by clicking the right mouse button (for Windows XP).
Step 8
Specify the "Change" command and go to the "Section" item (for Windows XP).
Step 9
Enter the value {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and press Enter (for Windows XP).
Step 10
Specify the newly created section and double-click on the entry "(Default)" in the right part of the application window (for Windows XP).
Step 11
Enter the Recycle Bin value in the Value field of the Modify String Value dialog box and click OK (Windows XP).
Step 12
Quit the Registry Editor tool (for Windows XP).
Step 13
Return to the main Start menu and go to Run to restore the Recycle Bin using the Group Policy Editor.
Step 14
Enter gpedit.msc in the Open field and click OK to confirm the command.
Step 15
Specify the "Administrative Templates" item in the "User Configuration" list and open the "Desktop" link with a double mouse click.
Step 16
Open the "Remove Trash Icon from Desktop" item by double-clicking and go to the "Status" tab of the dialog box that opens.
Step 17
Apply the checkbox to the "Not Configured" field and click OK to confirm the application of the selected changes.
