The need to take a screenshot of the screen and save it may arise, for example, during a spectacular game, when watching a vivid movie or chatting on Skype with another person. You can do this using special keys or applications.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the Print Screen, or PrScn key, which is usually located in the upper right of the keyboard. Its sole purpose is precisely to capture screenshots. On some particularly compact keyboards, the key may be combined with some other function, so be careful. For example, on some laptops, tablets, and other computers, it is used in combination with the Fn key.
Step 2
Immediately after pressing the key, the screen image will be saved in the virtual memory of the system. To take a snapshot of a part of the current image on the screen, press the combination of Shift and Print Screen, while the application must be launched in windowed mode, but not every software supports this function.
Step 3
Paste the taken screenshot from RAM into a graphics editor or text document. To do this, you need to arbitrarily click on the file in the work with the right mouse button and select "Paste", click on this function in the "Edit" menu or drag the image into the program field with the mouse. Also, the screenshot can be inserted using the Ctrl and V hotkeys. After that, save the document with the image in the usual way.
Step 4
There are other ways to take a screenshot using specialized programs. For example, try installing the SnagIt application, which is not only designed for screen capture, but also has extensive photo editing capabilities. In the same application, there are built-in tools that allow you to apply various signs, inscriptions, select fragments, combine several images, etc. You can also choose one of several formats for saving the captured screenshots, which affects their quality and size.
