When you create it, you can write a reminder to help you remember it. Many people ignore this feature, hoping for their memory. If you forgot the password to your own archive and did not write a reminder, this does not mean that you have lost access to the contents of the archive.

Step 1
Almost the only way to get access to information in a password-protected archive is to find the correct password. Of course, we are not talking about manual rebuilding of symbols, since this is impossible. Special programs can help here. One of these programs is called Advanced Archive Password Recovery. Find it on the internet and download it. If necessary, install it on your computer (not all versions of the program need to be installed).
Step 2
Run the program. Now you need to act depending on the type of archive. If you need to open a Zip archive, then the order of the following steps is as follows. In the main menu of the program there is a parameter "Type of attack", next to which there is an arrow. Click on it and select "Guaranteed Zip Decryption". Then click "Open". Use the browse to select the desired archive. The decryption process will begin. The password to the archive will be written in the report that will appear after the operation is completed.
Step 3
If you need to decrypt a Rar archive, the procedure is as follows. Go to the "Length" tab. There are two values there: the minimum and maximum password length. Of course, if you know the exact number of characters in it, then you need to set this number to both the minimum and maximum. If you do not know exactly how many characters the password consists of, then for the value "Minimum length" put "1", and for the value "Maximum length" - "7". Then click "Open" and specify the path to the archive. After the archive is selected, the password cracking process is activated.
Step 4
Be patient in advance. This is a very long process. Much depends on the length of the password and the power of your computer. It is not advisable to load it with other operations during the decryption process. The results of the decryption will be presented in the report. If the password guessing operation is successful, you will find the password in this report.
