With a full Windows installation, it is possible to format and create multiple hard disk partitions in the BIOS. The basic requirement for this procedure is that the CD-ROM is installed as the primary boot device.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the computer by pressing the Power button and use the F2 or Del function key to enter BIOS mode. Go to the Advanced BIOS Features tab in the BIOS Setup Utility window that opens and select the Boot Device Priority section. Specify the CD-ROM Drive as the primary boot device and save your changes by pressing the F10 function key. Confirm the execution of the selected action by clicking the Yes button in the system request window that opens.
Step 2
Insert the Windows boot disk into the drive and reboot the system. Press the function key Enter in the opened window of the operating system installer and confirm your agreement with the terms of the license agreement by pressing the F8 key in the next window.
Step 3
In this case, the entire hard disk is recognized by Windows as an unallocated area, so it is recommended to split it into two logical partitions. To do this, press the function key C and type the desired size of the volume to be created in the corresponding field. Confirm the selected action by pressing the Enter function key and verify that the created section is displayed in the "New Section" line.
Step 4
Highlight the "Unallocated Area" line in the list and use the C key again to create a second logical volume. Type the desired size of the disk to be created in the corresponding field and confirm the saving of the changes made by pressing the function key Enter.
Step 5
Allocate the volume for the operating system installation and format it to NTFS. Wait until the files are copied to the hard drive and the computer restarts. Do not perform any actions at the next boot and continue with the installation of Windows OC.
Step 6
Return to the BIOS after completing the operating system installation as described above and set the master boot device to Hard Disk to reduce boot time. Save your changes.
