Most of the rechargeable batteries in modern laptops can be recovered quite well. Sometimes it is enough just to install the necessary program or use the built-in function of the mobile computer. But most often, mechanical intervention in the structure of the battery is necessary.

Instructions
Step 1
First, determine the type of battery used in your laptop. These are usually nickel-metal hydride (old models) or lithium-ion (relatively new) cells. To do this, visit the website of the mobile computer manufacturer. Sometimes it contains information on how to recover the battery using a utility built into the BIOS firmware.
Step 2
If you cannot reanimate the battery using the program, then remove the battery from the laptop, having previously disconnected it from the mains. Disassemble the battery and remove all elements from the unit.
Step 3
When using NiMH batteries, follow the steps below. Separate all batteries from each other. There may be more than ten of them. Prepare some bulbs. Better to use car bulbs (21W). Solder wires to them and connect one lamp to each battery. Leave the devices for about 10 hours. The batteries must be completely discharged.
Step 4
Now charge all the cells. To do this, you can use the power supply of the mobile computer and the aforementioned lamps. Connect the lamp to the batteries in series and connect the batteries to the laptop charging unit. Repeat the cycle of discharging and recharging the cells 2 more times. After that, collect the battery and connect it to the laptop.
Step 5
When working with lithium-ion batteries, you will need cyanoacrylate adhesive. Without it, you will not be able to connect the elements after recovery. Be sure to completely discharge the battery. Remove all batteries from the case and carefully separate the blocks from one another. They usually consist of two or three batteries. To do this, you will have to unsolder the metal plates that connect the batteries.
Step 6
Measure the voltage of each element. If it is significantly lower than 3.7 V, then this unit will have to be replaced. Using a 5-watt bulb, reduce the voltage of each cell to 3.1 V. Repeat the same procedure with new batteries. Collect the battery, install it in the laptop and connect the charger.
