The device boot queue on any computer is registered by default. But what to do in a situation when you need to change the order in which computer components are turned on or choose the source of the system boot yourself? This may be required, for example, to reinstall the operating system. To select the system startup source, you need to open the computer's boot menu, which will allow you to change its default boot parameters.

Instructions
Step 1
There are two options for opening the boot menu: as part of the BIOS or separately. If you open the boot menu in BIOS, you can change the startup order of devices. If you open it separately, you will be able to select the source of the computer start at the moment. Both cases will be considered below.
Step 2
Turn on your computer. Immediately after pressing the power button on the keyboard, press the Del button, which will open the system BIOS menu. If you have a laptop, it is possible that this key will not work, as depending on the laptop model, other keys may be used to enter the BIOS. You can find out which key is used to enter the BIOS on your model, either on the website of the laptop manufacturer, or by looking at the manual for it.
Step 3
Once you're in BIOS, just look for the Boot option. Regardless of the motherboard model and BIOS version, it is a must. Select Boot and press Enter. Now go to the Boot device priority section. You will see that each digit is assigned a different device. This is the boot order. First, the device under the number 1 starts, then 2, etc. By clicking on a number, you yourself can assign it a device to start. Select the device boot sequence that you need. Then, in the main BIOS menu, select Exit, and then in the window that appears - Save and Exit. The computer will restart.
Step 4
Now you need to consider how to open the boot menu directly, in which you can simply select a device to start. Turn on your computer. After that press the F8 key (if it doesn't work, then F5). As a rule, these keys are used to open the boot menu on stationary computers. Although other options are not excluded. As a last resort, try pressing F8 and F5 alternately. In a laptop, depending on the model, the boot menu can be opened with different F-keys. You can also try the brute force method. When you press the desired key, the boot menu will start instead of the usual boot of the computer.
