Instructions

Step 1

If you have a single port DSL modem and a multiport modem with a WAN connector, you can connect multiple computers to the Internet without the need for additional devices. Connect the DSL modem to the telephone line using a splitter. Turn on this hardware and wait for it to load.

Step 2

Connect a network cable to the Ethernet port of the DSL modem. Plug the other end into a special slot on your computer. Turn on this PC. Open the web interface of your modem settings using a browser. Configure the connection to the provider's server.

Step 3

Be sure to turn off the DHCP function. This will give the second modem a static IP address. Save the settings and reboot the modem. Make sure the device is connected to the server.

Step 4

Disconnect the network cable from the computer and connect it to the second modem. Connect all desktop computers to its LAN connectors. Open the web interface of the second modem settings. Go to WAN (Internet Settings) menu. Turn on the DHCP function to avoid unnecessary configuration for each computer connected to this equipment. Select the PPPoE data transfer type and activate the Static IP-address item. Enter the IP address of the DSL modem in the Server field. Set the static address value for the device you are configuring.

Step 5

Save the WAN menu settings. Reboot the second modem. Repeat the process of entering the menu of its settings. Make sure the equipment can access the internet. Check for network connectivity on desktop computers. Please note that after turning off the power of both modems, it may take a long time for them to fully boot. Open the settings menu of these devices only if Internet access is lost for more than ten minutes.
