With a timely cleaning of the computer's virtual memory, the quality of the PC systems and programs is significantly increased. Cleaning is also necessary to preserve the confidentiality of data that remains in the paging file.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to clean the virtual memory of the computer, you should choose one of the following actions.
Start button, Search. In the search bar, enter secpol.msc, press Enter. After the computer has found this file, you should open it by double-clicking the left mouse button. A window titled "Local Security Settings" will appear. In this window, open the following folders: "Security Settings", followed by "Local Policies", again "Security Settings". Find the file "Shutting Down: Clearing the Virtual Memory Page File". Open it up. In the window that appears, select the "Enable" status, click "OK".
Step 2
Button "Start" - "Run" - file gpedit.msc. In the "Group Policy" window that appears, open the following folders one by one: "Computer Configuration", followed by "Windows Configuration", then the "Security Settings" folder, then the "Local Policies" folder, and finally "Security Settings". In the last folder, find a file called "Shutdown: Clearing the Virtual Memory Page File". Double click the mouse, in the window that appears, switch to "Enable", "OK". In both cases, when the system is shut down, the computer's virtual memory will be automatically cleaned up.
Step 3
Open "Start", "Search" - enter Regedit in the search field. Open the found file with the.exe extension by double-clicking it. In the window that opens, on the left, find the following folders: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”, the “SYSTEM” folder, followed by “CurrentControlSet”, then “Control”, then the “Session Manager” folder, and finally “Memory Management”. In the window that opens, on the right, find the "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" file, call the context menu, click "Change" and in the window that appears, change the value 0 to the value 1.
