All computer components require timely driver updates. The video card is no exception. If you do not update the drivers for it in a timely manner, then, for example, video games can often "crash" to the desktop or work with malfunctions. Also, by reading any video game manual, you will find recommendations for installing the latest drivers.
It is necessary
- - Computer with Windows OS;
- - Catalyst Control Center software.
Instructions
Step 1
The first method is universal. It is suitable for any models of video cards. Click Start. Select All Programs, then Accessories. Find the command line in standard programs and run it. In it, enter the dxdiag command and press the Enter key. After a second, the diagnostic tool will appear.
Step 2
Go to the "Display" tab. A window will pop up with information about your video card. In the left part of the window there will be information directly about the model of the video adapter, and in the right part - information about the driver. Find the line "Version" there. The value in this line will be the version of the driver for the video card.
Step 3
If you are the owner of a video card from ATI, then this method will suit you. Install the Catalyst Control Center software (this software should come with your graphics card). Next, right-click on an inactive area of the desktop and select Catalyst Control Center. If this is your first time launching the application, then check the "Advanced" item and proceed further.
Step 4
An additional window of video card parameters will open. There is an arrow at the top of the window. Click on this arrow with the left mouse button and in the menu that appears after that, select "Information Center". Then click on the "Graphics Software" tab. In this tab, find the line "Driver packaging version". This is the version of your graphics card driver.
Step 5
Another universal method for any video card is as follows. In the command line, enter mmc devmgmt.msc (how to open the command line is described above). The Device Manager window appears. Click on the name of the video adapter with the right mouse button, then select "Properties" from the menu that appears. Now go to the "Driver" tab. A window will pop up, in which there will be information about the driver, including its version.
