To run graphical applications and games that require large resources without problems, you need to know the corresponding characteristics of your computer. When working with such programs, the main load falls on the video card. And in order to successfully launch the game, you need to know the parameters of your video card.
Instructions
Step 1
For owners of Nvidia video cards, most of the parameters can be found in the device control panel. To do this, right-click on the desktop and select "Nvidia Control Panel". Then go to the "Help" item in the top panel and click on the "System Information" link. The available video cards will be displayed in the left column of the table, on the right - all the corresponding characteristics, as well as the version of the driver being used.
Step 2
You can view the parameters of the video card using the dxdiag utility. To do this, go to "Start", select "Run" (in Windows 7, the name can be entered in the search box under the item "All Programs"). Type dxdiag and press Enter. After opening the program, switch to the "Display" tab, where all the relevant characteristics will be written.
Step 3
Using standard Windows XP tools, most of the settings can be viewed in Device Manager. To do this, right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties", then go to the "Hardware" tab and open the "Device Manager" item (the button with the corresponding name). After starting, all devices connected to the computer will be shown. The item "Video adapters" is responsible for the video card. Right click on the board name. The corresponding characteristics will be displayed.
Step 4
Viewing the characteristics of an Nvidia video card in Linux is carried out in the same way through the board's control panel, if proprietary drivers are installed. You can also view the options by typing "xvinfo" in the terminal, which will display all available values. To display information via OpenGL, you can use the glxinfo request.
