Every computer or any other device connected to the Internet or local network has its own IP address. It consists of four numbers separated by dots. Knowing this combination, you can determine the country and city where the device is located.
Instructions
Step 1
You can check the IP address of a device using a special form of the TCP network protocol. To do this, enter a whois query in any of the search engines, and then go to the appropriate site. Check out the free and well-established resources linked below.
Step 2
Find the IP check section on the selected site and enter the corresponding address in the query string. After a while, the service will display search results, and depending on the characteristics of a particular resource, the answer will be short or detailed. For example, some sites only display the country and region, while others will also show you the city and even the detailed address of the location of the device you are looking for.
Step 3
Pay attention to the other data that the Whois search protocol will give you. Most often, the location of the device is determined based on the available information about the provider to which the person or organization is connected. Some resources show exactly the name of the provider as basic information. Knowing it, you can easily determine the corresponding city using search engines.
Step 4
Use one of the programs to determine the country and city of the device connected to the network via IP, for example, Free IP Scanner, Free Port Scanner, Advanced IP Scanner, etc. Most often they are free and do not take up much space on your computer. Thanks to them, you can quickly find the information you need without having to search for specialized sites on the Internet.
