The user can add, change, delete icons on the "Desktop". The appearance and design style of various elements depend only on the wishes and tastes of the user. If you accidentally deleted icons from the Desktop, you can restore them in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
After loading the operating system, the first thing you see on the monitor screen is the "Desktop". The icons on it come in several "categories." The first includes the main elements of the "Desktop" - the folders "My Computer", "My Documents", "Network Neighborhood".
Step 2
If you want to restore the icons of this group, call the "Display" component. To do this, right-click in any free space of the "Desktop" and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, open Control Panel from the Start menu, in the Appearance and Themes category, select the Display icon.
Step 3
In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Desktop" tab and click on the "Desktop settings" button. In the "Desktop Items" window, open the "General" tab and place a marker next to the items that you want to restore.
Step 4
Click on the OK button in the elements window. In the "Properties: Display" window, click on the "Apply" button and close the window by clicking on the OK button or the [x] icon in the upper right corner of the window. The icons will be restored.
Step 5
The second group of icons includes shortcuts to folders and applications created by the user or the "Installation Wizard" of a particular program. If you accidentally deleted a shortcut, go to the directory where the desired folder or program is located.
Step 6
Right-click on the folder icon (application launch file) and select the "Send" command from the drop-down menu. In the submenu, click on the item "Desktop (create shortcut)" with the left mouse button.
Step 7
The third group of icons is located on the taskbar in the notification area or on the quick launch bar. To restore icons on the Quick Launch bar, simply drag, while holding down the left mouse button, the folder or program launch file icon onto this bar.
Step 8
The notification area (among others) displays icons for applications that launch automatically when the system boots. To add a file to Startup, open the folder of the same name in the C: directory (or another disk with the system) / Documents and Settings / Admin / Main menu / Programs and add a shortcut to the folder or program startup file you need.
