Sometimes it is urgently necessary to find out the configuration of your computer. Memory, motherboard, processor speed, external drive capacity, and many other system characteristics. This information is quickly provided by the standard msinfo32 utility. This computer configuration and diagnostics utility is included with any version of Microsoft Windows and is always installed with it. Moreover, with its help, you can find out information about the work and devices of even a remote computer.
Instructions
Step 1
On your desktop, click the "Start" button and select "Run …". The Launch Programs dialog box will open. In the "Open" field, enter the name of the utility - msinfo32. Press the Enter key.
Step 2
The "System Information" window will appear on the screen, which provides complete information about your computer. In the left part of this window there is a tree list of resources and connected devices of the computer. On the right there is a window where data about the selected device or resource is displayed.
Step 3
Select the top line "System Information" on the left of the list. General information about the configuration of your computer will immediately appear on the right.
Step 4
For more detailed information on a specific device in the left part of the window, in the tree-list, select the corresponding line. The required data will be shown in the right half of the window in the "Element" and "Value" fields.
Step 5
If you need to know the configuration of a remote computer included in a shared local network, select the main menu items: "View" - "Remote computer …". Enter the computer name in the field that opens. Click the "Ok" button. The window will display information about the remote PC.
