Step 1
Prepare your work surface. Best of all, cover it with a light-colored cloth. so as not to lose small details. Shut down your computer after saving the necessary data to removable media. Disconnect the computer from the power source and remove the battery from the bay. Turn it right side down and unscrew any bolts you can see from the back cover.
Step 2
Gently pry off the hard drive compartment cover with a flat screwdriver, remove it and carefully disconnect the wires that connect the hard drive to the motherboard. Take out the hard drive, remove the remaining covers.
Step 3
Taking the contents of the computer one by one, get to the keyboard attachment. Turn the computer right-side up and open the cover. Pry the special panel above the keyboard with a mild knife or flathead screwdriver, however, be extremely careful with this part - it breaks easily due to its awkward design and thin plastic in the middle. After that, unscrew the fasteners visible to you and turn the computer back over.
Step 4
Disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard by gently holding the ribbon cable at the base. Do the same for the touchpad. Be extremely careful with the cables and connection cables, as they are very easy to damage. Locate the wires connecting the monitor to the laptop case, disconnect them, and remove any existing screen-to-computer mounts. Disconnect any existing wires connecting the two parts of the laptop.
Step 5
If you also need to disassemble the monitor, remove the covers on the monitor to access the bolts that secure the screen cover. Unscrew them. Pry up the edges of the monitor and gently remove the cover. Disassemble the monitor on a separate surface to avoid confusing small items with the laptop case.
