Thanks to the development of technologies for processing sound and video on personal computers, today anyone can create their own version of dubbing their favorite film or television series. Similar alternative versions of dubbing, performed at a fairly professional level, exist for many films and are distributed via the Internet in the form of separate tracks. After creating or downloading from the Internet, it makes sense to attach the soundtrack to the movie, having received the video with the desired soundtrack.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare a movie file and an audio track that you want to attach to it.

Step 2

Load the movie file into a video editor. To do this, you can either just drag the movie with the mouse from the explorer window or the file manager into the application window, or use the function of opening a file by pressing F7, or by selecting the "File" and "Open video file …" items in the menu. In the second case, in the "Open video file" dialog, go to the directory where the movie file is located, select it in the list and press the "Open" button.

Step 3

Disable video stream processing. Expand the "Video" item in the main menu, and then check the "Direct stream copy" checkbox.

Step 4

Select the audio track to attach to the movie. In the "Audio" menu, click on the "Audio from other file …" item. The "Open audio file" dialog will be displayed. Navigate in it to the directory where the audio track file is located. Highlight the file in the listing. Click the "Open" button in the dialog.

Step 5

Disable the processing of the audio stream received from the external file. Expand the "Audio" item in the main menu, and then check the "Direct stream copy" item.

Step 6

Start saving a copy of the movie file with the audio track attached. To do this, select the "File" item in the main application menu, and then click on the "Save as AVI …" item. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut F7. In the displayed "Save AVI 2.0 File" dialog, specify the directory where you want to save the movie, and also enter a new file name. Click on the "Save" button.

Step 7

Wait until the end of saving the video file to disk. While the file is being written, statistical information will be displayed in the "VirtualDub Status" dialog. In particular, there you can see the elapsed and predicted recording time, real and predicted size of the resulting file. By pressing the "Abort" button, you can interrupt the saving process.
