Instructions

Step 1

Wash the damaged disc with dishwashing detergent and water at 40-50 degrees. It is better to do this regularly and with whole discs so that the drive does not clog up. Place the disc horizontally on a heat-resistant surface, such as a book, with the written side up, and direct the light from a 60-candle lamp at a distance of 10 centimeters at it.

Step 2

Hold it in this position for five to ten minutes. Thus, the plastic will melt and the scratch will heal. To repair the disc in this way, lay it on a flat surface so that it does not bend.

Step 3

Use the following method to repair the CD: take a safety razor blade, place it on the disc with a slight tilt, peel off the top layer of plastic, making movements in the direction of the tilt until you have sanded the entire scratch. The result will be a large semi-matte spot - the drive will not react to it, and it will not affect the readability of the disc, unlike scratches from which light refracts. You can sand the scratches with toothpaste. You can also try putting the disc in the freezer for a few minutes, then immediately put it in the drive and try to read it.

Step 4

Follow these guidelines to repair a scratched disc. Insert the plug into the center of the disc, lock it in place, make sure it is straight. Heat the disc carefully over a low heat of the gas stove. Be extremely careful as one wrong move will damage the disc. Rotate the disc slowly to keep it warm on all sides.

Step 5

Then soak it in warm water for five minutes to straighten uneven edges, cover with a lid. Boil it. After the water boils, it will hit the walls of the vessel, but you shouldn't worry. Remove the disc, lay it on a towel, wipe in smooth movements from the middle to the edge.
