Sometimes it happens that when trying to write a file to disk, a message appears that the file is too large. In this case, you should divide it into two parts and record on two discs. This is not difficult to do, but you will need programs that allow you to compress and split the file.

Necessary

  • - computer;
  • - the Internet;
  • - program.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, install programs on your computer that allow you to archive files. WinRar or 7-Zip will do. The latter program is completely free, and WinRar can only be downloaded for free in a trial version that will run for forty days. After the file is saved on your computer, open the program and follow the instructions to install it.

Step 2

Hover over the file that you want to burn to two disks with the mouse. Right click. Depending on the program, either the "Add to archive" option will appear immediately, or first you will need to select the name of the archiving program (for example, 7-Zip), and then a new menu will pop up. Once the menu has appeared, click on the required option.

Step 3

A new window will appear. In it, find the function "Divide into parts". 7-Zip itself offers possible sizes, as well as select the disc format for recording - CD or DVD. Please note that you should not specify the maximum allowable size, because the edges of the disks are easily damaged and there is a risk that some of the data will be lost.

Step 4

Specify the path where to save the files so that later you do not search for them on your computer. Best saved to your desktop. To do this, click on the ellipsis next to the very top line. A new window will appear in which you can select different directories for storing the file. In the left pane, select Desktop. Then click "Ok" or "Finish". The button is located at the very bottom of the window.

Step 5

The compressed documents appear on the desktop. Insert one disc, burn the first part, then insert another disc and burn the second. Please note that the files are written in a compressed form, so when you insert the discs, before you see the file, you will need to unzip it. First, copy the files from both media to your computer. Then move the mouse over them and press the right key. Select the "Extract file" option.
