Step 1

When you install the Windows XP operating system, you automatically get administrator rights. In some assemblies, during installation, you will be asked to enter a username, in others, the default login is Admin. All commands executed on behalf of the administrator have the highest priority - that is, they are executed without any conditions. This is dangerous, therefore it is more correct to have two accounts: an administrator and an ordinary user. In the first, you configure the system and install programs, in the second, you work.

Step 2

To create a second account, open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "User Accounts (Change settings and passwords for user accounts)". Select "Create Account". Enter the name of the new user and click Next. Check the "Restricted Entry" checkbox and click "Next" again. A new account will be created.

Step 3

It is possible that the operating system will tell you that to create a limited account, you must first create an administrator account - despite the fact that such an account already exists. In this case, agree, create a second administrator account, then repeat the described procedure and create a limited account.

Step 4

Return to the Control Panel, open the "User Accounts (User Account Control)" item and delete the redundant administrator account. As a result, you will be left with the old admin entry and the new limited entry. You can switch between them through the menu item: "Start" - "Logout" - "Change users".

Step 5

While it can be inconvenient to work under a limited account, you will significantly increase your security level. Trojans and virus programs that penetrate your computer will not be able to work, since they will not have enough authority to do so.

Step 6

In Windows 7, the built-in Administrator account has the highest rights, but it is disabled for security reasons. To enable it, right-click the "Computer" icon on the desktop or in the "Start" menu, select "Control" in the context menu that opens.

Step 7

Open on the left side of the window: "Computer Management" - "Utilities" - "Local Users and Groups" - "Users". On the right side of the window, select the "Administrator" account. In the window that opens, uncheck the "Disable account" item and click OK. After that, the administrator account will be available, to select it, click "Start" - "Log out". The login page will appear, where you can select the desired account. Remember to create a password for the administrator account.
