Step 1
Before connecting to a new wireless network, reset the Wi-Fi settings of the adapter. When working with Windows Vista, left-click on the network icon in the tray and go to the "Network and Sharing Center" menu. Select "Change adapter settings". Find the Wi-Fi adapter icon and go to its properties.
Step 2
Select the Internet protocol TCP / IPv4 and activate the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" items. Save your settings and return to the Network and Sharing Center. Open the start menu.
Step 3
Go to "Connect" and select the "Set up a connection or network" option. Open the "Connect to a wireless network manually" menu. Fill in the table provided. Provide a name for the network. It must be identical to the name that is specified in the settings of the access point. Select the type of security and radio signal. Enter password.
Step 4
Check the box next to "Save network settings". Click "Next". Do not connect to the network. Close the settings window and click on the wireless networks icon in the tray.
Step 5
Find the newly created network and right-click on its name. Select Properties. Open the "Connection" tab. Activate the "Connect automatically if the network is within range" and "Connect even if the network does not broadcast its name" options.
Step 6
Go to the Security tab. Check the set parameters. Make sure you are using the correct encryption type (AES or TKIP). Click the Ok button. Open the list of available wireless networks and click the "Connect" button. Wait until the connection with the selected access point is established.
