Archives with the.zip extension are used quite often. They are convenient for storing files in a compressed form - so they take up less space. Archiving programs are often used to prepare files for transmission by e-mail. In order to open or unpack a.zip archive, it is important that a program for archiving and unpacking files with the.zip extension is installed on the computer, and then only a few mouse clicks are required.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several ways to unpack a.zip archive. If you need to extract all the files contained in the archive, you need to right-click on the archive icon. Select the required command from the list of commands in the drop-down menu.
Step 2
The Check Out Files command will open the Check Out Path and Options window. In this window, you must specify the path to the folder into which the files will be unpacked. The directory has a tree structure. Moving through the branches, you should select an existing folder or create a new one by clicking on the "New folder" button. Having decided on the place to save the files, you should click on the "OK" button.
Step 3
The "Extract to current folder" command means that the files will be extracted to the same folder where the archive is located. For example, if a.zip archive is on the desktop, the files will be extracted to the desktop. They will be saved without creating a new folder.
Step 4
The "Extract to" command will unpack files into the same folder as the archive, but at the same time they will be placed in a folder with the same name as the name of the archive.
Step 5
If you click on the.zip archive with the left mouse button, a window with the contents of the archive will open. From it, you can unpack all files at the same time or extract only the files you need. To do this, select the files contained in the archive and click the "Extract" button. The same window will open as in step 2 ("Extraction path and parameters"). Also, the window for saving files can be invoked by selecting the "Commands" item in the top menu bar, in the drop-down menu select the "Extract to the specified folder" item.
Step 6
Also, files from the.zip archive can be extracted in a different way. To do this, open the archive using the method indicated in step 5, select the required files and, while holding down the left mouse button, simply drag and drop the files into the required folder. It doesn't matter if the folder into which the files are copied from the archive is open or closed.
