If you are not the owner of a professional SLR camera, like most other people, you are likely to regularly come across a rather low quality of ready-made images that you transfer from your camera to your computer. Despite the fact that simple digital cameras do not always reproduce colors correctly, and sometimes the quality of the photo leaves much to be desired, it can be corrected using the graphics editor Photoshop.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to edit a photo in Photoshop, improve saturation, color rendition and other parameters, open the photo in Photoshop and then from the Layer menu select the option New Adjustment Layer -> Channel Mixer. Select the red channel from the list, then in the Output channel section also select the Red option.
Step 2
Set the red value to 170 and the rest of the colors to -30. This will increase the saturation of one of the channels.
Step 3
Repeat the same steps, alternately choosing to edit the green and blue channels - respectively, in the green channel the Green parameter should be equal to 170, and in the blue channel - the Blue parameter. Accordingly, the saturation of each of the channels will be increased, and the color saturation of the finished photo will also increase.
Step 4
Sometimes, after editing in this way, the colors are too bright. To reduce the intensity of the color, edit the Channel Mixer section again, slightly changing the color options.
Step 5
Also for further editing you can use the option Adjustments -> Hue / Saturation in the Image menu. Correct the main tone of the image.
Step 6
If you want to change the color or saturation not of the entire photo as a whole, but only of one of its fragments, select this fragment and place it on a new layer. To do this, you can use the Magnetic Lasso Tool, and after the selection is complete, right-click on the selection and select the layer via copy option. The desired object from the photo will appear on a separate layer, where you can edit it in any way. In the end, you just need to merge the layers (Flatten Image).
Step 7
In some cases, you need to improve a photo that is initially of low quality (for example, a photo from a phone). Change the photo from RGB color mode to CMYK, and then in the channels palette select the black channel and use the Blur tool to remove all noise from this channel.
Step 8
After that increase the saturation of the black channel by brushing it with the Burn Tool. If you want to lighten the channel on the contrary, select the Dodge Tool from the toolbar.
