The development of new video compression formats allows you to maintain quality while reducing size. However, often because of this diversity, an ordinary user who does not understand the intricacies of existing formats and codecs suffers.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch a multimedia video program on your computer. The Windows operating system has a built-in Windows Media Player. To launch it, select "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Windows Media Player". In the opened program, in the upper right part, select the "Playback" tab. Drag the mpeg4 file to the list pane below where it says "Drag items here". After that, click on the "Play" button in the program interface.
Step 2
There is another way to start viewing mpeg4 files. Use Explorer to open the folder where the video you want is located. Double click on the file, which will launch the default playback program.
Step 3
To independently select the program with which to view, right-click on the file, hover over the "Open with" item and select the desired application from the list that appears. If it is not in the list, click on the "Select program" item. In the window that opens, find and select the required program. If it is not there, click on the "Browse" button. In the explorer window that appears, search for the required application.
Step 4
If the mpeg4 file cannot be played, please install the appropriate codec to be able to play it. Windows Media Player will prompt you to find the required codec on the Internet yourself. Wait for the end of the search and installation process.
Step 5
If the codec is not found or you need to install it yourself, launch an Internet browser. Go to one of the sites where you can download codecs. Examples are free-codecs.com, free-codecs.ru, etc. Download the required codec and install it by double-clicking on the installation file.
