Instructions

Step 1

If you know the password and want to remove it, turn on the computer and open the BIOS menu. When working with a stationary PC, you must press the Delete key, and in the case of a laptop - F2. Some mobile computer models require a different function key to be pressed.

Step 2

Enter the password to access the BIOS menu settings. In the main window, select Change Password. Complete the first box with your old password. Leave the other two fields blank. Press Enter and confirm disabling the password. Highlight Save & Exit and press Enter.

Step 3

If you do not know the password, then reset the BIOS settings mechanically. If you are dealing with a stationary computer, then disconnect it from the mains. Remove the left cover of the system unit and find the washer battery. Remove it from the slot. Using a screwdriver or other metal object, close the contacts to which the battery was attached. This is required to apply the factory default BIOS menu settings

Step 4

In the case of a laptop, things are a little more complicated. Turn the mobile computer over and remove all necessary screws. Remove the laptop cover and find the BIOS battery. Follow the manipulations described in the previous step. Some mobile computer manufacturers provide quick factory reset. Find the connectors labeled CMOS. Remove the jumper from them and reposition it. Sometimes you just need to remove the jumper. Set the jumper to its original position.

Step 5

Some motherboards have a Reset CMOS button. Just press it and hold it for 5-10 seconds. Assemble the mobile computer by connecting all the necessary loops. Turn on the laptop and make sure it is not prompted for a password when entering the BIOS menu.
