The Com port is traditionally used to connect devices to a computer that need serial data transfer - one byte at a time. Previously, a mouse and keyboard were connected in this way, now - uninterruptible power supplies and car diagnostic systems. When installing some software related to the Com port, an error may appear stating that the port is busy.

Step 1
To solve this problem, you need to make some settings in the system. Click the "Start" button in the lower corner of the screen and find the "Run" item. You will be taken to the computer registry. Type cmd on the line and press enter on the keyboard. The command line will start. You need to enter commands in Latin letters.
Step 2
Enter the command mode com1 and press enter on your keyboard. This command is intended to set the properties of the port: speed, length, speed, etc. If this port is busy, the utility will display a message about it as an error. If the port is free, the system will notify you about it. In this menu, you can configure all the parameters of a specific port on your computer.

To find out which program to use the com port, go to the site sysinternals.com and load the ProcessMonitor program into the computer memory. As a rule, such software should be installed in the system directory of a local disk on a personal computer. Run the application. Click on the Find button and type in / Device / Serial0, then press enter on your keyboard. The program will take some time (very little) to complete the task.

The com port is designated RS-232C. The data exchange rate on the com port is usually no more than 115200 bits per second. In modern operating systems, this port is used as a channel for data transmission and is called COM1, COM2, and so on. Some communication devices (such as bluetooth) may use the name of this port to have their own name in the system. It is also worth noting that many computers lack com ports for users. To do this, you can use special devices called "chamomile".
