Printer cartridges are quite expensive, even if they are refillable. This is especially true for inkjet printers. To save money and time, you can make your own good ink that can be used for a long time.
It is necessary
Pigment for paint (Rainbow ink or any other ink similar in composition), glycerin, alcohol, syringes (for refueling), cartridges (refillable), utensils for making paint (the required number of beakers)
Instructions
Step 1
To make paint, you first need to select a dye. It must be water-soluble, in no case pigmented. Construction and automotive colors will not work. You can use food colors, but they should not contain vanillin, molasses and sugar. Any colors must be filtered and boiled beforehand. If a residue remains after boiling, then it is better not to use this ink. There are several ways to make printer ink.
Step 2
About 30% alcohol and glycerin are added to the ink. Next, the ingredients are mixed and boiled. On average, the percentage of glycerin is about 20% of the total solution. For 300dpi printers, about 50%. The higher the dpi, the less glycerin is used. Then the solution must be boiled for 15 minutes and filtered (through cotton wool or a paper filter). When making quality paint, it is highly recommended to use a filter.
Step 3
Check the flow rate of the printer manufacturer's ink before mixing. This fluidity will be the benchmark. When self-manufacturing, you need to strive for just such a consistency. To check the fluidity, you need to pour the paint into a syringe with a needle, and record the time it takes for it to flow out of the hole. With low fluidity, it is necessary to add glycerin, and increase the concentration of the pigment used (boil).
Step 4
Printer ink is made only experimentally. Each cartridge manufacturer may have its own recipe. For example:
27% black ink + 18% alcohol + 55% glycerin;
40% black ink + 30% alcohol + 30% glycerin.
