The page numbering method in instructions depends on the office application in which the documents were created. In this case, the OpenOffice Writer program is considered.

Instructions

Step 1

Before starting the pagination of the instructions, preliminary preparation of the document is required - a separate style for each page or a single style for all pages must be selected. The numbering procedure itself can be conditionally divided into two stages - inserting a header and footer, and then inserting page numbers. If you want to number the first page of the manual, expand the OpenOffice Wraiter main menu and click Format. Go to the Styles section and expand the Page Style link. Select the Normal option, or any other style you want, but not the First Page style.

Step 2

Return to the main menu of the program and select the "Insert" item. Apply the check box in the row of the desired header / footer location. Possible options:

- page header;

- footer.

Move the mouse pointer to the inserted header and footer and expand the main application menu again. Specify the "Insert" item and select the "Field" sub-item. Use the Page Number command.

Step 3

If there is no need to number the first page of the instruction, the procedure will be somewhat different. Expand the OpenOffice Writer main menu and select Format. Go to the Styles section and expand the Page Style link. Select the "First Page" option.

Step 4

Return to the main menu and select the "Insert" item. Go to the "Break" sub-item and select the "Page Break" command. Expand the Style link and expand the Page Style node. Specify any style you want except for the "First Page" option. This action will lead to the fact that the first page of the manual will differ from all other pages of the document and will not be numbered.

Step 5

Open the second page of the instructions and once again open the main menu of the OpenOffice Writer application. Select the "Insert" item and apply the checkbox in the row of the desired location of the header. Select the "Normal" option and return to the main menu again. Specify the "Insert" item again and go to the "Field" sub-item. Use the Page Number command.
