Sometimes, on one computer, a user may have two operating systems installed, each of which is used for specific purposes. But it happens that for some time there is no need for one of the OS for a while, but it will definitely be in demand in the future. The problem can be solved by turning off the second operating system.
Necessary
Windows computer
Instructions
Step 1
Right click on "My Computer". A window will appear about your computer, where you can also select some settings. You will need the Advanced option. For Windows 7, select Advanced System Settings.
Step 2
This will open the System Properties window. It will have several sections. Find the "Startup and Recovery" section, in the lower right corner of which there will be an "Options" button. Click on this button with the mouse. The Startup and Recovery window appears.
Step 3
First, you need to select your primary operating system. The top-most section of the window is called “Loading the operating system”. Click the left mouse button on the arrow at the bottom of the window. A list of the operating systems that are installed on your computer will appear. In this list, select the one that will be used as the main one. The rest of the operating systems will be disabled.
Step 4
Further in this window, find the line "Display a list of operating systems." A checkbox is selected next to the line. Uncheck it, then click OK. In the next window, click on "Apply", then - OK. The settings you selected will now be saved.
Step 5
Reboot your computer. You will see that the operating system selection menu no longer appears. It just boots the OS that you have chosen as the main one. Thus, the second operating system is not removed from your computer, but simply turned off. The computer will act as if you only have one OS.
Step 6
Recovering the ability to select a second operating system is easy. To do this, check the box next to the line "Display a list of operating systems", and the second OS will be available again.
