In graphic editors, it is possible to give insufficiently bright images the required level of brightness. Such a function is provided both in specialized editors like Gimp, and in the usual editors preinstalled in the system.
Often, still images taken with the camera are not bright enough. To give them additional brightness, various computer graphic editors come to the rescue. There are also brightness settings in the cameras themselves and mobile phones, which are used to take pictures.
Adjusting brightness in the graphical editor Gimp
To adjust the brightness in the Gimp editor, you need to open the image in this program and select the "Color" item in the top menu. And then select "Brightness-Contrast" in the drop-down menu. The top line in the window that opens adjusts the brightness. Here you need to move the slider either to the left or to the right. Moving the slider to the left will decrease the brightness of the image, while moving the slider to the right will increase the brightness.
You can also set the brightness value in the box to the right of the slider line. Positive numbers add brightness to the image, while minus numbers decrease brightness.
You can also set the brightness using the "Levels" window. This window also opens from the "Color" menu item. In the "Levels" window, you need to move the top slider. By default, it stands somewhere in the middle. Moving the slider to the left makes the drawing lighter, and moving to the right makes it darker.
The Curves window is also intended for changing the brightness. There are more possibilities here, because you can move the curve in different ways.
Adjusting brightness in Microsoft Office Picture Manager
To adjust the brightness in this program, you need to open the "Change Pictures" panel from the top menu. The panel will appear on the right side of the program window. In the submenu "Change using the following tools" select "Brightness and contrast". Just like in Gimp, you need to move the top slider to the left or right. You can also enter a numerical brightness level in the box on the right.
In Microsoft Office Picture Manager, you can also use automatic brightness selection. To do this, in the "Brightness and Contrast" panel, click on "Adjust brightness". The program itself will select the optimal brightness for a particular photo image.
You can also use the Brightness and Contrast panel to adjust the brightness of the midtones in the More Options submenu.
Adjusting the brightness before shooting
The brightness can be adjusted in the device itself or the phone before taking a photo. To do this, go to the camera window and find the brightness settings there. Usually this is again a slider that needs to be moved up and down or left and right. Instead of “Brightness,” the name of the setting could be “Exposure”.
